August. Visions of evenings when the summer’s heat and the disappearing light of the upcoming autumn melt together into exotic experiences. Like memories from a trip under the southern sun, even though you are at home. After the summer holiday, often taken in July, August is your time to reap the berry harvest while working remotely at the summer cottage to maximise the number of weeks away from the daily life at home. It is still possible to achieve the freedom of the holiday and summer after the remote work day as you transition to your cottage duties after 4 o’clock with just a few steps. In the evening, you can heat up the sauna and swim in the lake. In the morning, you are back on Teams with your team members, just like any other day.
In terms of the calendar, August is still summer. The start of the school year, however, also means it is time to get back to your routine. The temperatures may still feel like summer, but nature is already telling you that it is moving on from the period of new growth. The gradual transition from holiday chores to the daily routine feels natural in the era of remote work. You do not need to return to your routine instantaneously; instead, you can start off gently.
However, people returning to work are starting to talk about the coming autumn in August. Everyone is preparing for the arrival of autumn in their minds and work plans. Autumn is known as a time for a fresh start and the chance for renewal. However, many would still like to cherish the memory of the summer and hold on to its scents and mood. August usually makes this possible. It is partly up to you if you return to the daily life by squeezing or by letting go. Autumn does not need to taste sour – you have the possibility to make it taste like the season’s best pie.
